Xiangxi is an important part of China’s strategy of the Belt and Road Initiative and Hunan’s action plan to give full play to its geographical advantage as the transition zone between eastern coastal areas and central and western regions, as well as the junction of the Yangtze River open economic belt and the coastal economic belt.
In 2021, the high-speed railway and airport in Xiangxi were opened to traffic.
In recent years, Xiangxi has focused on investment attraction, made full use of various economic and trade platforms like Hunan-Yangtze River Delta Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Week, and paid equal attention to “bringing in” and “going global”.

Over 10 enterprises from China’s top 500, Global Fortune 500 and top 500 private enterprises, well-known listed companies and industrial leaders have settled here, including China Resources, Evergrande and Country Garden, injecting new momentum into the economic development of Xiangxi.
In November 2018, an overall plan for undertaking industrial relocation in Southern and Western Hunan was issued. Xiangxi is the only national demonstration area for undertaking industrial relocation in ethnic minority areas in China.
It will strive to be a leader in undertaking industrial relocation in Central and Western China, open and cooperative demonstration area in inland areas, important national advanced manufacturing base and important growth pole to support the rise of Central China.
Xiangxi has the best opportunity to undertake industrial relocation and accelerate development as well as opening-up.
